Job description

Role & responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the regulatory and legal aspects of the companys transmission lines and substations projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, obtaining permits, and addressing legal matters related to the construction, maintenance, and operation of transmission system.
  • Engaging with regulatory bodies, managing legal disputes, and ensuring that all activities align with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Managing legal matters and submitting applications to the District Magistrate (DM) for compliance related to transmission lines and substations.
  • Managing responses to legal compliance matters, including those related to landowners/RoW or other legal issues related to Transmission system.
  • Identify and manage documentation related to force majeure events, changes in law, and respond to notices regarding Right of Way (ROW) disputes. Handle requests for time extensions and represent the project in legal hearings and petitions.

Preferred candidate profile

  • B.E/B.Tech & MBA/Law Degree with 10-12 years of relevant experience in the power sector
  • Regulatory knowledge of electricity transmission sector, knowledge of terms and conditions of contract (incl. FM, CIL, etc.), CERC/SERC regulations, Statutory clearances required for a transmission project.
  • Able to understand matters related to the Electricity Act, regulations of various commissions like Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, State Electricity Regulatory Commission etc.
  • Knowledge in the field of legal frameworks related to energy systems, including transmission lines, substations, and distribution.
  • Knowledge of Contract Management with legal writing and document drafting capabilities.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with contractual obligations during the construction and operational phases of projects.
  • Ability to identify legal risks, provide solutions, and mitigate challenges related to regulatory non-compliance, project delays, or contractual disputes.
  • Proficiency in environmental regulations, Right of Way (ROW) disputes, and contract law and supporting the land team for legal matters.
