Job description
Position Summary:
The incumbent will play a key role in managing and overseeing all legal aspects related to litigation, arbitration, contract management, internal legal advisory, vetting documents, correspondence, liasioning with Government authorities, and land acquisition. The role requires expertise in handling disputes, ensuring compliance, and mitigating risks for the organization. The incumbent will represent the organization in all ADR/ court matters.
Role & responsibilities
Arbitration
- Lead and manage arbitration cases, ensuring efficient resolution of disputes.
- Review and assess the impact of arbitration rulings on business operations.
- Prepare legal arguments, evidence, and documentation for arbitration proceedings.
- Coordinate with external arbitrators, lawyers, and internal stakeholders to drive case outcomes.
Litigation Management
- Handle and oversee litigation cases, including civil, criminal, and commercial disputes, to protect the organization\'s interests.
- Work closely with external counsel and law firms on case strategy, filings, and legal proceedings.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize litigation exposure.
Liasioning with Government and Regulatory Authorities
- Build and maintain relationships with Government bodies and regulatory authorities for smooth business operations.
- Represent the organization in interactions with Government officials and regulatory agencies, including matters related to compliance and land.
Land Acquisition and Property Matters
- Oversee land acquisition processes, including due diligence, negotiations, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements in property acquisition, land title verification, and related documentation.
- Address land disputes, encroachments, and other issues to ensure legal clearance.
Legal Compliance and Risk Management
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Identify legal risks related to litigation, arbitration, and land acquisition, and develop mitigation strategies.
Others
- Contract Management: Managing and digitizing the Contract Lifecycle
- Internal legal Advisory to various departments
- Team Management
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- LLB from a recognized institution; an LLM or equivalent advanced legal qualification is preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in legal functions, with a strong focus on litigation, arbitration, contract management, liasioning, and land acquisition.
- Strong knowledge of civil, commercial, arbitration and property laws.
- Proven experience in managing complex litigation and arbitration cases.
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with government authorities and external agencies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
